UBHARA Surabaya Strengthens Internationalization through Student Exchange and International Internship Programs in Taiwan and Thailand

Universitas Bhayangkara Surabaya (UBHARA Surabaya) continues to strengthen its commitment to internationalization as part of its efforts to advance toward becoming a World Class University. This commitment is demonstrated through various international collaboration programs that provide students with opportunities to gain academic, cultural, and professional experience in a global environment.

One of the tangible manifestations of UBHARA Surabaya’s internationalization efforts is the participation of students from the Faculty of Economics and Business in a student exchange program at Hungkuang University in Taichung, Taiwan. One of the UBHARA Surabaya students participating in the program is Nanda Ferry, a student of the Faculty of Economics and Business.

As part of the program, Nanda Ferry participated in academic activities through the Joint Degree Program and Summer Program organized by Hungkuang University, Taiwan. The program provided an opportunity for students to broaden their academic perspectives while gaining valuable learning experience in an international higher education environment.

The participation of UBHARA Surabaya students in programs in Taiwan is part of the university’s efforts to provide broader learning experiences. Through direct interaction with students and academic communities from other countries, students are expected to develop cross-cultural communication skills, expand their international networks, and enhance their readiness to enter an increasingly competitive and globalized workforce.

In addition to the student exchange program in Taiwan, UBHARA Surabaya also provides students with opportunities to gain professional experience through the International Internship Program at Bossotel Bangkok, Thailand. The program is participated in by students from the Faculty of Economics and Business and the Faculty of Engineering at UBHARA Surabaya.

The International Internship Program at Bossotel Bangkok is conducted over one semester. Throughout the program, students have the opportunity to experience an international working environment firsthand while developing competencies relevant to their respective fields of study.

International internship experience provides significant added value for students because learning does not take place solely within the classroom. Students are given the opportunity to understand workplace culture, professional communication, service standards, organizational management, and the dynamics of the professional world from an international perspective.

The participation of students from the Faculty of Economics and Business and the Faculty of Engineering in the international internship program also serves as a means of connecting academic competencies with the needs of the professional world. Students are encouraged to apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired during their studies at UBHARA Surabaya to real-world professional situations.

Through these experiences, students are expected to develop stronger adaptability when entering the professional world. An international working environment also presents unique challenges that encourage students to become more independent, disciplined, communicative, creative, and capable of working effectively in multicultural environments.

These student exchange and international internship programs are part of UBHARA Surabaya’s strategy to expand its network of partnerships with international educational institutions and professional organizations. International collaboration is an important element in building a higher education ecosystem that is capable of responding to global developments and challenges.

The UBHARA Surabaya International Cooperation Office plays a strategic role in supporting the development and implementation of various international collaboration initiatives. Through coordination with faculties, study programs, partner universities, and international institutions, opportunities for student mobility can continue to be developed and expanded.

Student participation in international programs is also an important component in strengthening UBHARA Surabaya’s academic reputation at the global level. As more students gain learning and professional experience abroad, greater opportunities emerge for the university to expand its academic, professional, and institutional networks with international partners.

Hungkuang University in Taichung, Taiwan, is one of the partner institutions providing UBHARA Surabaya students with opportunities to gain international academic experience. Through the Joint Degree and Summer Program, students have the opportunity to experience higher education abroad while becoming familiar with the academic and social environment in Taiwan.

Meanwhile, the International Internship Program at Bossotel Bangkok, Thailand, provides a different perspective. Students gain not only academic insights but also direct professional experience by participating in an international working environment for one semester.

The combination of international academic and professional experiences serves as an important foundation for students in facing global challenges. Today’s workforce requires graduates who possess not only academic competencies but also strong communication, collaboration, adaptability, problem-solving skills, and an understanding of cultural diversity.

UBHARA Surabaya’s international programs are expected to continue growing and provide broader benefits for students. Beyond improving individual competencies, these programs are also expected to contribute to producing graduates who possess a global outlook while maintaining strong character and the values of UBHARA Surabaya.

Internationalization is also an integral part of UBHARA Surabaya’s ongoing transformation in higher education. Universities are increasingly expected not only to produce graduates who are capable of competing nationally but also to prepare them to compete at regional and international levels.

Through student exchange programs, Joint Degree initiatives, Summer Programs, and international internships, UBHARA Surabaya strives to create a more comprehensive educational experience. Students are given opportunities to learn from diverse perspectives, explore best practices in international environments, and establish networks that can provide long-term benefits.

The experiences gained by students in Taiwan and Thailand are also expected to generate a positive impact when they return to campus. The knowledge, experiences, and insights gained abroad can be shared with other students, ensuring that the benefits of international programs extend beyond the individual participants.

In addition to benefiting students, these activities also create opportunities for UBHARA Surabaya to develop broader forms of international collaboration. Relationships established through student mobility programs can be further developed into partnerships in education, research, community service, faculty exchange, curriculum development, and various other forms of academic collaboration.

With an expanding international network, UBHARA Surabaya is optimistic that it can further improve the quality and relevance of education provided to its students. Internationalization is not merely about providing students with opportunities to study or work abroad; it is also part of the process of building an academic culture that is open, adaptive, and globally oriented.

The participation of Nanda Ferry in the program at Hungkuang University, Taiwan, as well as the participation of students from the Faculty of Economics and Business and the Faculty of Engineering in the International Internship Program at Bossotel Bangkok, Thailand, represents a concrete example of this commitment in action.

These programs demonstrate that UBHARA Surabaya students have meaningful opportunities to develop themselves through international experiences. With the support of the university and the International Cooperation Office, students are expected to become increasingly confident in pursuing academic and professional opportunities at the global level.

Looking ahead, UBHARA Surabaya will continue to promote the development of high-quality and sustainable international programs. Expanding partnerships with universities, companies, organizations, and international institutions will remain an important step toward creating more opportunities for the university’s academic community.

Through these initiatives, UBHARA Surabaya is committed to building a higher education ecosystem capable of producing outstanding, competitive, globally minded graduates who are prepared to navigate an increasingly dynamic world.

Internationalization is a shared journey that requires collaboration among the university, faculties, study programs, students, lecturers, alumni, and international partners. Therefore, the success of UBHARA Surabaya students in participating in international programs in Taiwan and Thailand represents a collective achievement in strengthening the university’s presence on the global stage.

With a spirit of collaboration and innovation, UBHARA Surabaya continues to expand its international network and enhance the quality of students’ learning experiences. Student exchange and international internship programs in Taiwan and Thailand represent concrete steps in UBHARA Surabaya’s journey toward becoming a university that is increasingly recognized and respected internationally.

Through these programs, UBHARA Surabaya is not only sending students abroad to study and gain professional experience but also building bridges of collaboration between Indonesia and international academic and professional communities. This initiative represents an important part of the university’s long-term vision to strengthen internationalization and pursue its aspiration of becoming a World Class University.
